THE RELIGIOUS STATUS OF SCIENTOLOGY

             Here is a critical opinion on Scientology.  As part of
      my class on religious studies I am putting up many different
      pages on various new religions, sometimes known as cults.
      This one is on Scientology and is entitled "The Religious
      Status of Scientology".  While he believes Scientology is a
      genuine religion he is critical of their particular beliefs
      and practices as he is with many other religious movements.

            Dr.  Hexham was Assistant Professor of Philosophy of
      Religion, Regent College, Vancouver, B.C., Canada when he
      wrote this on February 6, 1978.
